My Favorite Christmas Song This Year

Each year one particular Christmas song reaches out and grabs hold of me. This year it is Welcome to Our World. Chris Rice, Amy Grant, and Michael W. Smith all sing this song but I'm not sure who wrote it. I only have it on our ipod, rather than a CD, so I can't look inside to see who wrote the song. If you know, please leave a comment.

Take these lyrics in and linger in the awe of this familiar, yet wonder-full story.

Tears are falling, hearts are breaking
How we need to hear from God
You've been promised, we've been waiting
Welcome Holy Child
Welcome Holy Child

Hope that you don't mind our manger
How I wish we would have known
But long-awaited Holy Stranger
Make Yourself at home
Please make Yourself at home

Bring Your peace into our violence
Bid our hungry souls be filled
Word now breaking Heaven's silence
Welcome to our world
Welcome to our world

Fragile finger sent to heal us
Tender brow prepared for thorn
Tiny heart whose blood will save us
Unto us is born
Unto us is born

So wrap our injured flesh around You
Breathe our air and walk our sod
Rob our sin and make us holy
Perfect Son of God
Welcome to our world

This song has been on my mind and heart this season, too. I'm pretty sure it was written by Chris Rice, but I haven't checked my MWS or AG CD covers...

Your honesty on your blog blesses me, Marta, when I have the time to catch up.
